The Future Of Eating Out- FavoriteEats

I have recently been opting out of carrying around my wallet because my phone case has a bit of room for my card and license. All was fine and dandy until I realized this meant one thing. I couldn’t keep my loyalty cards on me! I am an avid loyalty card keeper. It’s a tad bit embarrassing how many I keep stuffed in my wallet. When FavoriteEats reached out to me I was so excited to see that one of the many things that this will do for me is keep my loyalty cards in one app!

FavoriteEats is a new local app (Salt Lake and Utah County) that just launched a couple weeks ago! Luis and I hadn’t really celebrated our anniversary (moving is a bit time consuming), but we took a break Friday night to head out to eat. We planned on nothing extravagant, we have plenty of other purchases to make, but just some time for the two of us to relax and enjoy each others company. Keeping in mind that we have a million other things to buy right now, I am ALWAYS on the look out for discounts. Another thing FavoriteEats has done for us is this: when you open the app it automatically shows restaurants in your area with coupons/discounts available to you. This helped us decide what to eat and made me feel better knowing we were saving some mulah for adult things like toilet paper, towels, and cereal.

I got the chance to talk with Glen about this awesome new local app…

Would you mind telling me a bit about yourself?

I’m a Utah boy, born and raised. I’ve always been an entrepreneur at heart, and love eating out, so FavoriteEats is a perfect combination of those passions.

What inspired you to create FavoriteEats?

I’ve always love restaurants and eating out, but always hated loyalty cards. I’d end up with the fat wallet syndrome carrying around all those cards, and wanted to make something better, and came up with the original idea for FavoriteEats. That was about seven years ago now, and I’ve been working on it ever since.

FavoriteEats JUST launched so we are all still just discovering it, in a nutshell, explain what this app is.

FavoriteEats is basically a massive coupon book just for restaurants. It’s all on your phone, so there are no paper coupons to clip, forget, or lose, and we are updating it with new restaurants and new deals all the time.

It also has loyalty cards built right into the app. So, instead of carrying around a stack of loyalty cards, you just use the FavoriteEats app to record each visit, and earn loyalty rewards all on your phone.

The app is free to download, and the loyalty side is free to use. To get access to the deals is just $1 the first month and $4 a month after that (or $35 for the year) but most people save $5-$10 on their very first deal!

We’re also passionate about doing good in our community. We’ve partnered with the Utah Food Bank, and donate a portion of every fee to help feed hungry families in the area. Our goal is to donate 100,000 meals in the next year!

So, with FavoriteEats our users can feed themselves, and feed the hungry. 🙂

I love the idea, how did you go about partnering with restaurants and creating the app?

Thanks! Luckily, restaurants love the idea too, so it’s pretty easy to get them on board. We just pop in and tell them the details, and most of them we meet with sign up. We’re lucky to have some fantastic developers in the team who have built FavoriteEats!

Are there any exciting plans we can look forward to in the future of FavoriteEats?

Lots more restaurants!! We’re adding new restaurants every week, so hopefully you’ll soon see more or your favorite places on FavoriteEats soon.

Where can we find you on social media?

You know what this is?! This is a foodie on a budget’s dream come true! Trying new, local restaurants is important to me and many of the ones FavoriteEats has partnered with are small, local joints. When you open the app it lets you know what places are around where you can use a FavoriteEats coupon to save a few bucks. Being in a new city, we don’t know any of the restaurants in the area. Without this app we would have probably never stopped into a delicious pizza place that donates a meal to a child in Malawi, Africa with EVERY meal purchased. How cool is that?

Next stop, donuts! -Yes you heard me right, multiple dessert shops have coupons you can find on the app.

What are you waiting for Salt Lake and Utah County peeps?!

This is the future guys. The future of eating out.
