Happy April y’all! This year is flying by and now that we are into spring I realized I had hardly and pieces to wear in the warmer weather. As I purged my closet I got rid of a lot of impulse buys and cheaply made pieces, surprise surprise, the majority of those were for spring/summer. I have been picky with filling up this capsule like part of my wardrobe, seeking fine materials.. ethically made threads. I also made quite the decision!
I “market” myself as a semi-capsule wardrobe gal. Full on capsules scare me, and I am honestly not sure if they’re for me. I enjoy simplicity but not boundaries. However, I can’t lie, I have been curious what it would be like to truly live with a capsule wardrobe for a while. So, here’s that decision I was talking about: From the time I get back from Houston at the end of April until I head to Cancun in May, I will be fully embracing a capsule wardrobe and then come back to let you skeptics know how it really is.
Now, let’s introduce some of the pieces that will make it to that “month of capsule” look.
Stormie Dreams is my favorite shop, ran and made in LA by one of my favorite boss babes. All pieces in this post were provided by her & these along with others from her shop are basically all I wear already! (You can click on these photos to shop each look.)
A couple basic, casual tees.
These boyfriend tees are my FAVORITE things to wear. I have had a heathered black one for a while now and I am beginning to think my family thinks I don’t own anything else. I usually go between a medium or large and go with large with these tees for an extra oversized look.
I can’t decide what to call this color but let me tell you, I went out on a limb for it. Greys, tans & blacks are my comfort zone so choosing some color made me nervous but GAH. Someone please tell me what to call this color because I am currently obsessing.
A good, flowy romper
I went with a large for this romper but definitely could have worn a medium. It is hard to go wrong with this baby though, the flowly design makes it easy to go a size up. Sure, you could go floral since it’s spring and all but I’ll leave my flowers to the garden and vases *wink*.
A dressier shirt to wear up or down
This baby is perfect to wear casually with leggings or jeans but also looks GREAT paired with some bootie heels and slacks. The vegan leather pocket gives it that edgier feel while still easily staying professional. I was complimented numerous times wearing it out!
A couple cozy, easy to dress up or down booties
These brown booties were thrifted and the velvet ones can be found here (ps they’re on sale).
What am I still looking for?
- A good pair of sandals
- A sturdy, comfortable pair of denim shorts
What isn’t pictured?
- My favorite pair of jeans I certainly couldn’t sacrifice
- The most comfy denim sack dress
That puts me at ten pieces and I may or may not add one or two more. Am I missing anything important? Any ideas where to look for the items still on my list? Will you take this month of capsule challenge on with me?
Have you ever embraced the capsule life?
I’m getting excited!
